Shoe Storage Ideas For The Garage

If your garage acts more like a mud room, then you likely have an excess of shoes that pile up at your door. If that’s the case for you, the team here at Neighborhood Garage Door Service of Charlotte, NC suggests these shoe storage ideas for the garage.

Here are a few ideas you can try:

1. Hang a Shoe Organizer on the Door

A simple solution is to hang a shoe organizer on the door. You can buy ones that have a mesh netting or plastic holders for the shoes. All you will need to do is hang the organizer from the door on whichever side you prefer.

This is a great solution for smaller shoe sizes. However, adult-sized shoes that are 9+ may not fit well into the slots. Even if you put one shoe per slot, you may have a hard time getting the width of the shoe to fit.

2. Attach Racks to the Wall

Racks are a great solution for larger shoes. You can also keep the pairs together and not separate into different slots. The great thing about this solutions is that you can hang as many shelves as you need to fit all of the shoes from your family. You should consider placing the shelves on the wall from the ground up so you can add more as you need to.

3. Create a PVC Pipe Storage System

If you are the crafty type, you can build a PVC pipe storage system of your own. You will need to consider the size of the shoes you plan to store when selecting the size of the PVC pipe. This is a good option for smaller sized shoes, but may be hard to fit larger sizes.

After you have cut all of the pipes long enough to fit the largest size shoe you need to store, you can use liquid nails to glue the pipes together. Start with a row at the bottom of at least 3-4 pipes. Place another row on top of the pipes of 2-3. Then add one last pipe to the very top.

4. Place a Storage Bench by The Door

There are a variety of storage benches you can place by your the door in your garage. The great thing about storage benches is that there is a seat for you to sit on to put on your shoes. This is ideal if your kids put on skates while they are in the garage.

Some storage benches have coat racks that are part of the unit. If you don’t have a coat closet, this can be a great option to organize your home even more. You could also use those hooks for other purposes like book bags or umbrellas.

They sent Doug Fussell out to my house on the day after Christmas! I had only called them three days before! Doug was a premier technician, very thorough and very efficient. I expected him to take two days, since he was replacing two doors and adding openers on each door. He only took the daylight hours of one day! I could not believe how fast he was! In addition, he thoroughly taught me how to use the remote openers. I highly recommend them to anyone!

We just bought a home and this company was so understanding as I had to change the appointment time a few times. Then the tech came out and was so kind and helpful. I could not have asked for a better experience and will suggest them to anyone who needs work done on their garage door!

My garage door broke on a Saturday night as I was getting ready to leave for a holiday party. Kelvin was here within 30 minutes. He reviewed everything with me that was happening with my door. He gave me the estimates of what was immediately needed to be done in order for my door to raise and then what I will need to have done very soon. I could see all the problems he pointed out to me and I decided to have everything done. He completed everything that night. I was very satisfied with Kelvin’s professionalism and the work he did. Thank you again.
