Poteet
We proudly serve the families of Poteet, Texas. Poteet is located in Atascosa County. It is named for Francis Poteet, the first postmaster in the area. Poteet’s biggest claim to fame is being the birthplace of George Strait, the great country singer.
Located outside San Antonio
Poteet is several miles south of San Antonio. It is a few miles west of Interstate 37 on Route 16. The main junction in town is at Route 476 and Route 1470. Along 1470, you’ll find all four of the Poteet schools from elementary all the way through senior high.
Things to do
Our city is widely know for the Poteet Strawberry Festival. This annual event has been going on for over 70 years. It feature food, auctions, music, parades, various vendors, and more. There is also the prestigious royalty competition where several winners not only earn titles like Strawberry Queen, but are awarded scholarships.
