Craftsman is a popular brand in the garage door industry. It is available through Sears stores. Since it is such a common name, it is easy to have a Craftsman garage door opener installed. Our technicians are capable of making the installation for you.
If you already have a Craftsman opener, here are a few things you will need to do to maintain the unit.
Test The Garage Door Sensors
Every automatic door has safety sensors positioned in the doorway. The purpose of the sensors is to keep your family from being hit by the door. There are two sensors that are pointed at one another. When something breaks the line, it causes the door to closing and reverse.
Be sure to test this feature on your garage door from time to time. You can do this by putting a trash can in the doorway. Push the button for it to close. The door should stop midway down and reverse. If it doesn’t then push the button to open the door again.
How to Re-Sync Your Remote
If your remote is not operating the opener, then you will need to re-sync the two. There are a few ways you can try to get it to re-sync. Do these steps:
- Unplug the opener from the ceiling
- Take the batteries out of the remote
- Leave the two units off for 1-2 minutes
- Plug in the opener and put batteries in the remote
After these steps, the Craftsman opener should work again. If it is still not working, replace the batteries in the remote. We can come out and look at your opener if it is still not working after that.
Read The Owners Manual to Troubleshoot
When your opener is not working, read the manual for troubleshooting. The owner’s manual will teach you how to:
- Hang the opener
- Install the sensors
- Connect the door arm
- And much more
You will find the instructions on how to program your remote control and erase all codes. If you do not own your owners manual, one of our technicians can come to your house and troubleshoot the problem for you.
Finding Replacement Parts
If your opener stops working and you need a new part, most of the time, it can be ordered online. Try ordering the replacement part on the Sears website. Once it comes in, you can make the repair yourself.
Before you order the part, make sure that it is compatible with your unit. Consult your owner’s manual for a list of parts. You should be able to get the part number to place the order.
Not all repairs can be made by a homeowner. That is why our team of professionals are available to make repairs for you. If your Craftsman garage door opener stops working and you don’t know what’s wrong, call us right away. We will get a technician to come by and check out your system.
