Benefits of Sealing Your Garage Door
Our customers choose to seal up their garages for many different reasons. These reasons can include:
- Reduce dirt and debris from getting in your garage
- Keep down on rodents
- Regulate temperatures in the garage
- Reduce the amount of heat or cold air getting into your house
When you seal up your garage door, it can be very beneficial to your home.
Now that you have decided you want to seal up your garage, these are the ways you can do that:
Seal The Bottom Of The Garage Door
A lot of air, debris, and rodents can get in through the bottom of the garage door. You should have a weather stripping seal installed on the bottom of the door. If your door doesn’t have this seal, then purchase a kit and install it. If it already has a seal, you might consider replacing it if it is old.
Our team is able to come out and install this seal for you. If you do not know how to make the installation, just give us a call.
Add a Seal to The Garage Door Threshold
In addition to the weather stripping at the bottom of the door, you can add a strip to the seam between your garage door floor and driveway. You will use a strong adhesive to stick the rubber seal to the floor.
To install the rubber, you will need to follow the line of your garage door. We recommend that you clean the area from all dirt and then spray it off with a hose or power washer before you do the installation. Make sure it is fully dry before the installation.
Once you have a clean surface, you should run a chalk line to follow. The chalk line will give you a guide so you can keep the seal straight.
Install weather stripping
As another way of sealing your door, you can add weather stripping all the way around it. There are kits available to add the seal to the sides and top. Basically, you are sealing up every part of the door to keep down on the air getting in and out.
