With Halloween right around the corner, it is time to get in the spirit by decorating your garage door. Here at Neighborhood Garage Door Services of Austin, TX, we have a few ideas of how you can decorate your door.
Buy a Halloween Garage Door Cover
If you want to go a simple route, you can get a Halloween garage door cover that attaches to your door. Each of these designs have different themes that you can choose.
How about a ghost busting through your door? Or a spider web that covers the whole area with a large creature creeping in the corner? The covers are simple to install and easy to take down when Halloween is over.
String Up a Spider Web
Put up your own DIY spider web that spans the length of your door. All you need to do is wrap the string around to the back of your door and tape it. Make your own design and attach a flat spider if you would like. Just be aware that any decorations that you put on your door will need to clear the top of the door jam, to keep from pulling it off.
Cut Out a Silhouette Scene
If you have artistic talents, you can cut black plastic or paper to design a silhouette scene. Once you have the design cut out, you can tape it to the door any way that you feel comfortable.
Another thought would be to tape black plastic bags to the outside if you are trying to create a ghost or something that isn’t as defined.
Put Creepy Hands in The Window
For those that do not want to put tape or decorations on the outside of their overhead door, creepy hands in the window is a good solution. All you need to do is cut out the shapes of hands from black paper and tape them to the inside of the window. Cut the light on, and it will look like you have a housefull of people trying to escape.
Decorate Around The Edge
To avoid decorating the door itself, you can decorate on the house around it. You could make the outside of your house look like a face with the opening as a mouth. Or you could attach other Halloween scenes around the edge to keep the door free and clear.
Make a Haunted House Inside
Why not transform the inside of your garage into a haunted house. You can leave the garage opened on Halloween and allow your trick or treaters to get their treats from inside. To cover up your shelves, drape black trash bags across it all. Then you can hang spider webs and other creepy things from the ceiling.
If you are planning to only do this for Halloween night, then you can open your garage door and hang decorations from it. That would be a great way to add more excitement to your holiday themes.
Hang Lights
Consider attaching lights to the outside of your door frame. If you have a scene on the outside, the lights will enhance the look. You can go with a black light if you have a reflective scene up.
These are a few ideas that you can use to decorate the outside of your home for the upcoming holiday.
Here at Neighborhood Garage Door Service of Austin, we are wishing you a Happy Halloween.
