Many churches out grow their sanctuaries. A lot of churches choose to use their old sanctuaries as youth rooms. Check out how one church used garage doors in their youth room. The team here at Garage Door Services of Fort Worth can help you if you want to do something like this in your church.

How The Youth Room is Set up at First Colleyville

The youth room at First Colleyville has two entrances at the back of the room that leads into an open area. The large open space is used for multiple purposes. Chairs are set up to face the stage for worship services on Sundays. When the chairs are removed, the area is used as a game room.
On each side of the large area, there are two rooms that can be used as classrooms. There are two large garage doors for each of the rooms. Inside of the room, there are thick partitions that can be stretched across to create two separate rooms.

How the Garage Doors Are Used in the Youth Room

There is a total of 8 garage doors in the youth room. When the doors are closed, it cuts down on the noise that can be heard by the other classrooms. On Sunday mornings, the youth meet as one large group and then they break off into small groups. The doors allow the teachers and classes to get loud without interrupting the other groups.
During VBS, the youth room is used for the upper level grades. The open area is used for game time, which can be pretty loud. The side rooms are used for crafts and Bible study. When the garage doors close, it provides a sound barrier to the classes.

What Type of Garage Doors Were Used

The garage doors are made completely of glass. This way, a leader can be in a room by themselves with students without safety issues. Anyone can see what’s going on in the rooms from any part of the main area.
Unlike a standard lift garage door, the church has installed vertical-lift doors. The equipment lifts on a track that is flush with the wall. The door opens against the wall instead of hanging on a track above the floor. Since they use a vertical-lift door, they can use these rooms for games and not worry about hitting tracks.

They sent Doug Fussell out to my house on the day after Christmas! I had only called them three days before! Doug was a premier technician, very thorough and very efficient. I expected him to take two days, since he was replacing two doors and adding openers on each door. He only took the daylight hours of one day! I could not believe how fast he was! In addition, he thoroughly taught me how to use the remote openers. I highly recommend them to anyone!

We just bought a home and this company was so understanding as I had to change the appointment time a few times. Then the tech came out and was so kind and helpful. I could not have asked for a better experience and will suggest them to anyone who needs work done on their garage door!

My garage door broke on a Saturday night as I was getting ready to leave for a holiday party. Kelvin was here within 30 minutes. He reviewed everything with me that was happening with my door. He gave me the estimates of what was immediately needed to be done in order for my door to raise and then what I will need to have done very soon. I could see all the problems he pointed out to me and I decided to have everything done. He completed everything that night. I was very satisfied with Kelvin’s professionalism and the work he did. Thank you again.
