It became home to the first and only indoor shopping mall in Llicking County in 1986, which was named Indian Mound Mall. It was named so because it was originally inhabited by the Hopewell people, with their ancient burial grounds discovered on the north side of Heath, at Moundbuilders State Memorial.
The most popular method of transportation is still evident today, along the Ohio Erie Canal, which runs along present-day State Route 79. A residence along the canal, the Davis-Shai House has been saved from demolition. It was built in 1861 and donated to the city in 1995 and moved to its current location is 1996. The house has been completely restored.

Heath, OH
Heath, Ohio is one of the newer cities in Licking County. It was chartered in 1952 and grew very quickly. Soon the population was enough to sustain the only shopping mall in the county, the Indian Mound Mall. It was also the location of the Newark Air Force Base until its closure. Despite the loss of the Air Force Base, it remains the largest city in Licking County.

Heath is in the corridor right between Interstate 70 to the south and Highway 16 to the north. Highway 16 gives residents a line into northern Columbus and the Interstate 270 beltway. Interstate 70 will get you to the downtown district of the capital. It is neighbored by Newark, Granville, and Hebron.
